AI Governance with Freddie Seba: Building AI That Works for Patients
Last week, our CEO Larry Cordisco and I joined Freddie Seba for the inaugural episode of AI Governance with Freddie Seba, a new series focused on practical AI oversight for healthcare leaders.
We shared what we've learned building Neatly from the ground up as a patient-first AI companion. Here are three takeaways from our conversation:
Start with the patient, not the system
Too many healthcare AI projects get stuck in endless integration cycles with complex clinic IT systems. We took a different path: build for the patient experience first, meet HIPAA requirements, and stay focused on what actually helps people navigate their care.
The result? We ship working software instead of perpetual pilots.
Design for consistency, not one-off demos
Real-world deployment means engineering for repeatable, reliable processes. That includes practical safeguards like human review to catch hallucinations and reduce bias. It's not glamorous, but it's what responsible AI looks like in practice.
Transparency isn't optional
Boards and leadership teams should be asking: Where is AI used? Why? What are the boundaries? We believe patients, partners, and investors all deserve clear answers to these questions.
If you're thinking about AI governance in healthcare, whether you're a patient, a partner, or on a board, the full conversation is worth watching.
Empowering patients through AI-first healthcare guidance, not with AI hype
We're grateful to Freddie for creating a space for honest conversations about building AI that works for real people. More to come as we continue learning and sharing what we build.
